Booking and Processing

This is the procedure you often see on TV and in movies where an individual is photographed, their fingerprints are recorded and a background check is conducted. Once complete, bail will be set (provided the inmate is eligible) and a bail bond can be obtained. Booking and processing can take anywhere from 45 minutes to as long as 6 hours, depending on how busy the jail is.

Whatever the case, when the process is complete an inmate runs the risk of being transferred to a larger, County facility to await their arraignment if they are not bailed out. These facilities include Men’s Central Jail or, in the case that the inmate is a woman, the Lynwood Jail.

If transfer does occur, it can add as much as 24 hours to an inmate’s time in custody. When the bail bond process is begun quickly enough, though, the transfer can often be avoided.

Bail Process

Once an individual is booked and processed, the bail bond process can be begin by calling us and providing the name, birth date and date and time of arrest (if available) of the defendant. Once we locate him or her within the system and verify their eligibility for bail, we will have you fill out a few simple bail bond application forms and the indemnitor agreement.

Once completed, an agent will quickly be dispatched to the jail and your friend or loved one will be released within a few hours.

For your convenience, the entire process can be completed by fax or email.

Why Bail Someone Out?

The reason to bail someone out of jail is to save him or her the hardship of spending time in custody awaiting their arraignment and trial (if applicable). Also, it provides the defendant with an opportunity to continue going to work, school, paying bills and uphold family obligations.

When an individual spends time in custody, even a few days, it can result in the loss of their job, failing classes in school, or present significant complications with their family responsibilities.

The Cost of a Bail Bond

In California, the cost of a bail bond is set at 10% of the total bail amount. So, if the total amount of bail is $15,000, then the cost of a bail bond will be $1,500.

When paying for a bond, we accept a variety of methods including: major debit/credit cards (Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express), cash, check (business or personal), money order, bank account transfer and money wire.
