The El Segundo Police Department is responsible for meeting the law enforcement needs of the City of El Segundo. When arrested, defendants will be taken to the El Segundo police station where they will go through the booking and processing procedure, the final step of which is to set bail. Once bail has been set, it will be possible to obtain the defendant’s release via bail bond. However, the on-site jail is very small and not intended for the long-term housing of inmates. As such, if defendants are not bailed out, or the bail bond process has not begun, within 24 to 72 hours, it’s likely that the inmate will be transferred to one of downtown Los Angeles’ larger jails. Female inmates typically end up at the Lynwood Jail while males are sent to either Twin Towers Correctional Facility or Men’s Central Jail. Once transferred, defendants will need to go through another round of booking and processing before they can be bailed out.

How to Bail Someone Out

To bail someone out of the El Segundo Jail, give us a call and provide the name, birth date, and date and time of arrest of the defendant. If you don’t have all of this information – that’s okay – we can still help you out. It’s best to call as soon as possible after the defendant’s arrest so that we can quickly locate them within the system and verify they’re eligible for bail. If they’re still located at the El Segundo Police Station Jail, we can usually make sure they aren’t transferred once the bail bond process has begun. However, if they have been transferred, we can still post the bail bond wherever they’re located.

Once we know where they are, we will have you fill out the short, simple bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor’s agreement. Last, we provide you with a receipt and dispatch one of our agents to the jail to post the bond. Your friend or loved one will then be released as soon as they can be processed out.

Why Bail Someone Out of Jail

When a defendant is bailed out of jail, it allows them the ability to continue living their life and taking care of their obligations. While in custody, jobs can be lost, bills can go unpaid, classes can be failed, etc. While out on bail, defendants are able to manage their lives and take any steps necessary to keep their lives together if they’re facing jail time. Additionally, being out on bail makes it much easier for defendants to obtain legal counsel.
