A Santa Monica judge issued a bench warrant for Tyga for missing a court appointment. The rapper was supposed to attend court hearings to account for his finances after claiming poverty as his reason for failing to pay a $480,000 judgment against him. The story goes that back in 2011, Tyga was renting a Malibu home and failed to make one or more of the $16,000 a month rent payments. Once the rapper moved out of the home, the owner cited significant damages.

According to the report, glass bathroom tiles were damaged, the intercom system was disconnected, and an unapproved “dance pole” was installed in the master bedroom. As mentioned above, the rapper failed to pay the judgment, citing poverty. However, the supposedly strapped songster is alleged to have recently purchased a $200,000 Mercedes Maybach for his girlfriend Kylie Jenner.

As a result of the gift, Jenner may also find herself summoned to the court. When a person is unable to pay a judgment against them in cash, it’s legally possible for other assets of the defendant to be taken. That being the case, the homeowner’s attorney has requested that Jenner appear in court to answer questions regarding where the funds for the automobile came from. If it comes to light that Tyga owned the car for any period of time, and it was transferred to Jenner without payment, it’s possible that she will have to return the car to Tyga, who will then have to turn it over to the court.

Bench warrants are typically issued by a judge when someone fails to appear before the court. An arrest warrant, on the other hand, is usually issued when a grand jury or law enforcement have probable cause to suspect an individual has committed a crime. When an arrest warrant is issued, bail is set pursuant to the Los Angeles County Bail Schedule. When a bench warrant is issued, a bail amount is also set by the issuing judge. In this case, the bail amount on Tyga’s bench warrant is $10,000.
