When arrested in the City of Vernon, it is the Vernon police station jail that an inmate will be taken to. He or she will undergo the procedure known as booking and processing where fingerprints are recorded, photographs are taken and a background check is conducted. Once complete, bail will be set for those who are eligible as per the Los Angeles County Bail Schedule.

The Vernon Police Department Jail is not a large facility and cannot hold many inmates. It is designed to hold inmates for only 96 hours, and, if not released via bail bond or some other method, the inmate will likely be transferred to a larger facility such as Twin Towers Correctional Facility or Men’s Central Jail.

The city of Vernon is primarily an industrial and business center. Despite that, the Vernon PD Patrol Unit is the largest unit in the entire police department. They pride themselves on their close relationship and work with the community that they serve, and strive to keep crime to a minimum.

What is a Bail Bond?

Bail bonds, a.k.a. “surety bonds” offer financial incentive for the courts to allow an arrestee to remain free in between their court date(s). Basically, getting a bail bond is like telling the court “I agree to pay you X amount of money if the defendant does not meet their court obligations.”

When you obtain a bail bond for someone, you will sign an indemnity agreement that will make you financially responsible for their appearance in court. As a result, it is highly advised that you only procure bail bonds for those that you trust implicitly.

The Bail Bond Process

Once you find out a friend or loved one has been arrested and taken into custody, you call and provide one of our bail agents with the defendant’s name, birth date and date and time of arrest (if you have it). We can then use this information to locate the individual within the system and verify their eligibility for bail.

Once this has been accomplished, you will need to fill out a few short bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor agreement. After that, one of our bail agents will be dispatched to the jail and your friend or loved one will be released within a few hours.

If you’re not in the area or simply cannot meet with us to go through the bail bond application process, that’s okay! We can complete the entire thing from start to finish via fax or email. Your convenience and comfort is what matters most to us.

Paying for a Bail Bond

In California, the cost of a bail bond is set at 10% of the total bail amount. So, if the total amount of bail is $15,000, then the cost of a bail bond will be $1,500.
