In Castaic Lake, Deputies arrested a Texas couple who possessed four pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.

Like so many big busts, it all began with a minor traffic violation when Deputies first stopped the couple after noticing problems with their registration.

In accordance with procedure, Deputies obtained identification from the couple and after running it through the computer, learned that the gentleman in the car was on probation in Texas for a narcotics charge.

After discovering this, the Deputies began to investigate the vehicle in order to ensure that it did belong to the couple and was not stolen.

During the investigation, the four pounds of marijuana was discovered in the car and the couple was promptly arrested.

Packaged into four individual 1lb. bags, the total street value of the marijuana is said to be around $18,000. Both of the suspects were taken to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station and are currently being held in lieu of $35,000 bond.

The Texas couple arrested with four pounds of pot in their car will be arraigned later this week at the Santa Clarita Courthouse.
